Adjustment in the agenda aims to preserve the pontiff’s health for Jubilee and Christmas events

Pope Francis, 88 years old, chose to perform the Angelus prayer virtually on Sunday (Dec 22, 2024) instead of doing it in person from the window of the Apostolic Palace in St. Peter’s Square.

The decision was made so that Francisco could recover from a cold and be able to fulfill his busy schedule next week.

The pontiff will face the opening of the Jubilee of the Catholic Church and the Christmas celebrations. Francisco faces a cold during a period of low temperatures in Rome.

The Pope’s agenda for the week includes the opening of the sacred door in St. Peter’s Basilica on Tuesday (Dec 24), marking the beginning of the Jubilee.

In addition, he will celebrate Christmas mass and other ceremonies, including the traditional message “The city and the world“. The pope also participated in a mass after opening a sacred door in Rebibbia prison.
