The president-elect of the , , announced, this Saturday (21), that he appointed television executive Mark Burnett, producer of the ” starring the mogul “The Apprentice” as special envoy to the . “With a distinguished career in television production and business, Mark brings a unique blend of diplomatic acumen and international recognition to this important role,” Trump posted on his platform, Truth Social.
The role of Burnett, one of Trump’s main allies, will be different from that of ambassador and will not require confirmation by the US Senate. “Mark will work to improve diplomatic relations, focusing on areas of mutual interest, including trade, investment opportunities and cultural exchanges”, detailed the Republican.
Earlier this month, Trump nominated Warren Stephens, a major Republican donor and billionaire investment banker, as U.S. ambassador to Britain. Born in London and winner of an Emmy Award, Burnett was the creator of “Survivor”, the reality show that became a giant on American television after its debut in 2000. He also produced other successful programs, such as “Shark Tank” and “The Voice”.
His biggest success was “The Apprentice”, the American reality show shown since 2004 on the NBC network in various formats for 15 seasons. The program was widely credited with turning around Trump’s fortunes and making him a household name in the United States before he announced his candidacy for the presidential election in 2015.
