Hospital director Kamal Adwan in Gaza: “We urgently need food for the wounded, the sick and the medical staff”
Dr. Hussam Abu Safia, director of the Kamal Adwan hospital in northern Gaza, made a desperate appeal this Sunday to “anyone” who can provide the basic supplies that the center lacks amid an Israeli siege against the hospital. which has been going on for weeks.
“So far, we have not received the necessary supplies to maintain electricity, water and oxygen. Although there have been promises, unfortunately we have not received anything yet. The World Health Organization only managed to send us a few units of blood – approximately seventy units – when we needed two hundred,” denounces the doctor in a statement released by Palestinian sources and media.
The hospital also lacks food. His staff also cannot “provide food to the wounded and sick, or to medical personnel,” says the doctor.
“We call on the world to urgently intervene so that food can be brought to the hospital, which would allow us to provide at least one meal every 24 hours to the injured.”
Shortly after this statement was released, the Gazan doctor reported that the hospital was being attacked again, as has happened repeatedly in recent days, according to Palestinian sources.
“The Kamal Adwan hospital is being attacked without warning using various types of weapons. We are again facing a direct bombardment of the intensive care unit. The infirmary, maternity and all departments of the hospital are being attacked by the forces of occupation [de Israel] with all types of weapons, including sniper shots, tank shells and [drones] quadcopters.
On Saturday, the management of the Kamal Adwan hospital in Beit Lahia, one of three still standing in the northern Gaza Strip, warned of another large-scale attack by the Israeli army against its facilities.
