A member of the Argentina team that won the 2022 World Cup, right-back Gonzalo Montiel, from Sevilla (ESP), was offered to São Paulo. The information comes from journalist Arnaldo Ribeiro.
Montiel, currently 27 years old, has a contract with Sevilla until June 2026. The Spanish club placed a price of 4.5 million euros (R$28.7 million) for the player.
According to journalist Gabriel Sá, “the salary requested by the full-back’s staff is considered high. Other full-backs were also offered on the market and São Paulo is analyzing the possibilities.”

Has Montiel played for Sevilla?
Montiel hasn’t been given much space at Sevillabeing José Ángel Carmona’s reserve. In the 24/25 season, he participated in just 13 games, with one goal scored and no assists.

The player was on loan at Nottingham Forest (ING) last season. In England, he varied between starting and reserve, with 28 games played, no goals and three assists.
Montiel’s last brilliant club season was 22/23, when he played 48 games for Sevilla, scoring two goals, providing three assists and being important in winning the Europa League title.
Montiel has been part of the Argentina national team since 2019, when he played for River Plate, from where he left for Sevilla in 2021 – bought for 11 million euros. In the 2022 World Cup, he scored the goal that won the title in the alternating series of penalties, against France.
