The Civil Police caught a truck driver red-handed carrying almost half a ton of marijuana hidden in a load of meat in Bom Retiro, in the central region of São Paulo, last Saturday (21).
The man was arrested by civil police officers from the State Department of Prevention and Repression of Drug Trafficking (Denarc), after a team from the 6th Narcotics Investigations Station received information that the truck was transporting drugs that would be delivered to the Metropolitan Region of São Paulo.
Based on this information, the agents identified that the Raposo Tavares and Castelo Branco highways would be the main routes used by the suspect.
During the search, police officers located the truck and began monitoring the truck driver, who was then approached. When inspecting the vehicle, the police opened the refrigerated trunk and found the drug among the load of meat.
Exactly 490 kg were seized, distributed in 728 bricks of marijuana, which were sent to the Criminalistics Institute for examination. According to the police, the driver had received the cargo in Paraná.
The driver was charged with drug trafficking and the case was registered at 6th Dise.
