An apartment fire on Monday morning on M. Rázusa Street in Prievidza injured four people, and 30 people had to be evacuated from the apartment building. Members of the Fire and Rescue Service (HaZZ) from Prievidza and Handlova, municipal firefighters from Nitrianske Pravno and volunteer firefighters from Nedožier-Brezian intervened on the spot. This was stated for TASR by the spokesperson of the HaZZ Regional Directorate in Trenčín, Marián Petrík.
The fire in an apartment on the sixth floor of an eight-story apartment building was reported to the fire department shortly after 5:30 a.m. The fire affected one apartment, the windows of the apartment one floor above were also partially damaged. They gradually sent 12 members of the HaZZ from Prievidza and Handlova with five emergency vehicles, as well as firefighters from Nitrianske Pravno and Nedožier-Brezian to the scene of the incident.
“Intervening firefighters in breathing apparatus entered the apartment affected by the fire through the internal emergency routes, which they gradually located and then eliminated shortly after 7:30 a.m. using a single fire jet,” Petrík described.
According to him, four people were injured in the incident, two were taken to the hospital by paramedics after initial treatment on the spot, and two were treated on the spot. “During the intervention, 30 people were evacuated from the apartment building, residents were able to return to their apartments shortly before 8:00 a.m.. An investigator into the cause of the fire is currently on site, investigating the incident,” Petrík added.
