According to information from South Korea, the DPRK is preparing to increase the number of their soldiers in Russia.

North Korea is apparently preparing to send more soldiers and military equipment, including the so-called suicide drones to Russia to support its war against Ukraine. This was announced on Monday by the South Korean army, TASR reports, according to a report by Jonhap agencies.

According to US and South Korean officials, the DPRK has already sent more than 10,000 soldiers to Russia. North Korean leader Kim Jong-un allegedly supplied the Russian army with artillery shells, anti-tank missiles, mechanized howitzers and rocket launchers.

“A comprehensive intelligence review shows that North Korea is preparing to rotate and increase the number of troops deployed (in Russia), while currently supplying 240mm rocket launchers and 170mm self-propelled guns,” the South Korean Army’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said.

“There have also been signs that (the DPRK) is preparing to produce and deliver suicide drones, which were first unveiled during Kim Jong-un’s inspection in November,” the staff said, attributing such activities to Pyongyang’s efforts to gain practical combat experience and upgrade conventional weapon systems.

In November, North Korean state media reported that Kim had watched a test of various types of attack drones and called for full-scale production of the weapons.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff added that it has not yet detected concrete signs of a “provocation” by North Korea, which, however, cannot be ruled out at a time around a significant political event. It could take the form of the launch of a medium-range ballistic missile with a hypersonic warhead.

Next year, South Korea’s military expects Pyongyang to continue provocations in the “grey zone,” such as releasing garbage balloons and disrupting the GPS system.
