10 people from the same family died in a plane crash in Gramado, Rio Grande do Sul. 17 were injured.
A Portuguese citizen was among the ten fatalities in the crash of an aircraft, this Saturday, in Gramado, in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed to Lusa today.
In the same message, the ministry regrets “the death of a Portuguese citizen in the accident in Gramado, Brazil”, which was registered at the Consulate General of São Paulo.
Ten people, all from the same family, died in the plane crash, which crashed in the commercial area of the tourist city of Gramado, in Rio Grande do Sul (south), Civil Defense reported.
The victims are businessman Luiz Claudio Salgueiro Galeazzi, from the state of São Paulo, and nine family memberswho were traveling with him, the civil police confirmed to the French news agency AFP.
The pilot was the businessman himself and there were no survivors.
According to Globo, the businessman had already lost his hand in a plane crash in 2010, in a plane crash similar to this one.
Seventeen other people were injured on land, two of which were seriously injured, according to Civil Defense.
The aircraft, a Piper Cheyenne 400fell, hitting the chimney of a building, then the second floor of a house and a furniture store, according to local authorities.
The plane had taken off from the neighboring municipality of Canela and crashed a few minutes after takeoff, in an accident whose causes are being investigated.
According to, 17 people were injured on land and two women, in their 50s, are in serious condition, with severe burns.
