Authorities in Russia’s Transbaikal Region in Siberia canceled the one-time benefit for soldiers who have permanent consequences after injuries sustained in the fighting in Ukraine. The Ministry of Social Affairs there said that the money will instead be used to provide medical care and treatment for the soldiers and a fuel allowance. TASR informs about it according to the report of the DPA agency.
Compensation before amounted to from 100,000 to 500,000 rubles depending on the severity of the health consequences.
The Russian government, however, only in November based on the order of President Vladimir Putin decided on different payments for the injured, writes DPA. The Moscow Times reported at the time that Putin signed a decree regulating compensation for wounded soldiers, who will receive compensation based on the severity of their injuries instead of a lump sum payment.
