Nine Gynecology, Obstetrics and Pediatrics emergency rooms will be closed this Tuesday. But, according to the National Health Service (SNS) Emergency Scales, the number rises to 12 on Christmas Day.
On Christmas Eve, emergency services are scheduled to close. Gynecology and Obstetrics of the Hospital of Vila Franca de Xirafrom Hospital Beatriz Ângelo, in Louresfrom the Nossa Senhora do Rosário Hospital, in barrierand the Hospital of Portimão (Obstetrics).
Emergency services will also be closed. Pediatric of hospitals in Farodo barrierof Louresof the District Hospital of Águeda and the Basic Emergency Service of São Pedro do Sula unit that will also have closed its general urgency.
According to the SUS emergency scales, in total nine services will be closed on Christmas Eve, eight will be subject to restrictions and 191 will be open.
On the day of Christmas, add to these closures the closure of the Pediatric emergency department at the Hospital de Faroas well as the urgency of Gynecology and general and pediatric emergency of the Basic Emergency Service of Vila Nova de Foz Côa.
During this period, the Hospital Amadora-Sintra there is urgency Pediatric reserved, between 0am and 8pm, for internal emergency cases or those referred by the Urgent Patients Guidance Center (CODU) of the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM) and by the SNS24 line (808242424).
This hospital has also referenced the Gynecology and Obstetrics emergency service, as well as the Hospital São Francisco Xavier, in Lisbon, the Hospital Beatriz Ângelo, the Hospital Santa Maria, in Lisbon and the Centro Materno Infantil do Norte.
The emergency service for these specialties at Hospital Garcia de Orta, in Almada, is only available for internal emergencies and cases referred by CODU.
In total, 188 emergency services will be open on Christmas Day, while 12 are closed and eight are referred.

For a week now, people have been using the SNS Grávida line before resorting to the obstetrics and gynecology emergency department of the hospitals that joined the project that started in a pilot phase in 11 Local Health Units (ULS), mostly in Lisbon and Vale do Tagus, and in three units that voluntarily joined the project.
Challenged to take stock of the first week of the new operating model for these emergencies, the Minister of Health, Ana Paula Martins, said that a “longer history”, of several weeks, was needed to present this data.
He added, however, that it was possible to identify “small constraints and resolve them”, commenting that the process is being carried out “very calmlywith great prudence, with great common sense.”
