American Airlines has resumed its operations in the United States, after a temporary interruption caused by system failures. The suspension, which occurred this Tuesday morning (24), was requested by the company itself and authorized by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and impacted thousands of passengers during the period of high demand for Christmas travel.
The stoppage affected all flights operated by the company in North American territory. In a statement, American Airlines said that technical teams were working to resolve the problem as quickly as possible and apologized for the inconvenience caused.
On social media, the company sought to answer passenger questions, while many expressed frustration with the lack of information. “Our team is focused on fixing the issue,” the company said in response to one of the comments.
Around noon, local time, the FAA authorized the resumption of flights, but details about the technical problem were not released by the company. The disruption comes at a crucial time for the airline industry, with millions of people planning to travel for the holiday season in the coming days.
