The collapse of a bridge in Brazil killed two people this Sunday. At the exact moment the bridge collapsed, a short report was being made about the degradation and dangers of the infrastructure. 8 people remain missing.

A bridge fell between the states of Maranhão and Tocantins, in Brazilthis Sunday. To date, they have been found two people dead.

According to the Civil Defense of the city of Estreito, in Maranhão, cited by , the fatal victims are a 25-year-old girl and a 42-year-old man. Two children, two women and four men remain missing.

The same newspaper writes that at that moment, three motorcycles, three trucks and a car were passing over the bridge. Interestingly, at that time the Aguiarnópolis councilor was reporting the dangers of that bridge.

“This video has to reach the competent authorities (…) This bridge has been in existence for over 60 years, and as you can see on social media, in the news, the bridge is no longer able to withstand the large flow that passes through here. I would like to draw the attention of the competent authorities to take action”, warned the councilor.

A Juscelino Kubitschek de Oliveira bridge was built in the 1960s, has 533 meters long and connects the cities of Estreito, in Maranhão, and Aguiarnópolis, in Tocantins.

It integrates the Belém-Brasília road corridor and passes over the Tocantins River.

As G1 writes, the search for survivors was suspended after Civil Defense reported that one of the trucks was carrying sulfuric acidwhich can be dangerous for teams.
