An Ecuadorian judge annulled this Monday (23) the temporary suspension of vice-president Veronica Abad’s position.
The measure could hinder President Daniel Noboa’s plans to take leave to campaign for re-election.
Elected last year to finish the terms of their predecessors, Noboa and Abad clashed several times. The president sent the vice president to Israel to act as ambassador and manage the country’s diplomatic response to the Israeli war against Hamas.

Noboa is unlikely to take unpaid campaign leave before the Feb. 25 presidential contest if it allows Abad to briefly take charge of Ecuador.
