The Maranhão Military Fire Department reported that the search for the remaining missing people “remains intense”

The confirmed the second death after Juscelino Kubitschek de Oliveira, which occurred on Sunday (22). The body of an 11-year-old child was located this Tuesday (24), by a civilian, who called the Maranhão Fire Department.

The 533 meter bridge, over the , which connects Aguiarnópolis (TO) and Estreito (MA), partially gave way, affecting, in total, ten vehicles, including cars, trucks and motorcycles. Fifteen victims, including two children, remain missing.

The Maranhão Military Fire Department reported that the search for the remaining missing “remains intense”. “The CBMMA is mobilized, working with specialized personnel and appropriate equipment to maximize efforts to locate victims,” he published on Instagram.

The other victim is a 25-year-old woman, resident in Aguiarnópolis. The bridge was built with a reinforced concrete structure and opened in 1960 to connect the two States through the cities of Estreito (MA) and Aguiarnópolis (TO). The structure is part of an important road axis for the North region, as it is a crossing point for the BR-226 (Belém-Brasília) and BR-230 (Transamazônica) highways.
