The Cofecon/Corecons system, which brings together the federal and regional councils of economists, chose, in a secret vote, the (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) as the economic highlight of 2024.
The award recognizes the “relevant services provided by the institution using the tools made available by economic science”, according to the president of Cofecon, Paulo Dantas da Costa.
Voting took place in four phases. The first of these was a prior consultation with effective federal advisors and regional economic councils. In a secret vote, Cofecon advisors chose ten names. The plenaries of the regional councils then formed a triple list.
In an ordinary session held on November 29th and 30th, Cofecon chose, among the three nominations, BNDES, in the technical performance category.
