Credit should grow in November, estimates Febraban research

Annual expansion rate should increase from 10.8% to 11%; projection is made based on consolidated data from the main banks

In November, the total balance of the credit portfolio should grow 1.2%, as shown in the Special Credit Survey, released by the (Brazilian Federation of Banks). With this result, the institution reported, the annual expansion rate should increase from 10.8% to 11%. The projection is based on consolidated data from the country’s main banks.

The highlight of the month should come from credit aimed at companies, which should grow 1.4% in the month, making the annual expansion pace accelerate from 8.9% to 9.6%. This should occur as a result of the impulse caused by public programs and end-of-year purchases, explained Febraban. Here is it (PDF – 393 KB).

The research also shows that the targeted corporate credit portfolio is expected to grow 1.6% in the month, driven by financing from BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) and public programs. The free portfolio is expected to grow 1.3% in November.

The expectation is that credit to families will grow 1.1% per month, keeping the portfolio’s annual growth rate practically stable and at a high level.

The free individual portfolio is expected to grow 1.1% in November and the Directed individual portfolio is expected to grow 1.0%, supported by the good performance of real estate financing and rural credit.

The Febraban Special Credit Survey is released monthly and is a preview of the official data, which should be released on December 27th by the Central Bank.
