Zamioculcas is an exotic plant of African origin that delights with its decorative leaves and at the same time does not require much care.
However, this does not mean that you do not have to take care of it at all. Apart from regular watering (every 2-3 weeks in summer and limited in winter), zamioculcas also needs to be replanted regularly. This is the only way to provide it with conditions to grow and produce lush leaves.
Zamioculcas require regular replanting. Older specimens when they no longer fit in their current pot (every 2-3 years), and young ones even every yearbecause their root system develops quickly and the plant grows.
The frequency of this treatment depends largely on the age of the plant, but this is not the only factor. The signals that the plant itself sends you are also important. Learn to recognize them and the flower will always delight you with its spectacular beauty.

To find out whether you should repot your zamioculcas, pay attention to the roots of your plant. If they have already started poking out of the pot through the drainage holes or they look deformed, you cannot delay this treatment any longer..
Carry it out immediately so that the flower can develop healthily. It is the roots of zamioculcas that accumulate water and nutrients, so do not risk that their functioning will be disturbedbecause then the plant will waste away and will not produce new leaves.
It’s not just the roots of zamioculcas that are protruding outside the pot that should worry you. Disturbing signals sent by a flower calling for help may also include: stunted growth, yellowed and falling leaves or a substrate that dries out quickly (the flower seems disturbingly light because the plant lacks soil).

Carefully remove the plant from the pot and get rid of the damaged roots, and only then transplant it to a new place. Each subsequent pot of zamioculcas should be about 3 cm larger than the previous one.
Don’t exaggerate with its size, as this plant does not like too much space around its roots. This is because in such conditions the soil dries out slowly after watering and the flower may begin to rot.
The pot for zamioculcas should also have drainage holes and there must be adequate drainage inside, e.g. made of expanded clay. When it comes to soil, the best one is for succulents and cacti (they can be mixed). After transplanting, water the plant sparingly and place it in a bright, but not directly exposed place.
