Some people can no longer imagine the Christmas holidays without the film Pelíšky, which was shot in 1999 by director Jan Hřebejk. The film is sometimes sad and happy, and the most famous Czech actors were cast in the roles. It is clear to the viewer that the entire crew had to have a lot of fun during its production, but only for one scene Eva Holubová (63) was no laughing matter.
It is about the part when the teacher Eva invites her colleague Saša Mašlaň (Jaroslav Dušek) to her house for Christmas and after dinner they both go to bed together. Holubová didn’t like it when she read the script, where it was described and then only a few dots.
“So I asked what the dots meant and Hřebejk told me that I have children after all. It was clear to me, but I wanted to know how far they wanted to go. Then Honzo told me where I would let them go,” recalls Holubová with horror, who was not even relieved by Dušek’s comment: “Don’t worry, I’ll only go to the edge“, she added.
When the day of filming came, Dušek made her afraid again with the sentence: “Don’t worry, I have a condom.” She couldn’t breathe even while rehearsing the scene when the teacher Saša spreads out the bed and starts performing various movements. That’s when she decided to act.
“When I saw how he was sleeping on that bed, I was so happy because I knew he was capable of anything, she brought two potions. I didn’t care if he undressed me, but I didn’t want the nation to see me naked. I said to myself that if he takes down the first good one, but if the second ones too, then we’ll stop it.” said Holubová in the 7 falls of Honza Dědek show.
“Even before we started, I ran into Simonka Stašová’s dressing room and she was wearing tights there. I don’t even know how I got those on myself, because then they had to cut them out of me. And that’s how I went to the set,” she laughs years later.
Before “Ostra”, Hřebejk asked Eva if she wanted to go over the text, but she, stressed, sent him to hell. “I didn’t say what I had to say there at all. I just said that I was crazy and most of all quietly and quickly. Jaro then came with the paperweight, the offer of quality sex, and there was peace,” adds Holubová.
The famous scene was not filmed at all according to the preparatory script, but they made it up on the spot. “Hřebejk kept saying that only Boleček was making things up there, but he probably forgot that. Dušek, just like Bolek, is not able to remember anything and they keep adding something to it,” she concluded.
