The Volunteer Firefighters of São Bartolomeu de Messines had a special moment on Christmas morning when they helped to carry out a home birth. The alert was received by the corporation at 7:30 am, signaling that a pregnant woman was in labor.
Immediately, firefighters Diogo Silva and Justino Luís went to the scene, where, with the support of the Albufeira Emergency and Resuscitation Medical Vehicle (VMER), they provided assistance to the woman in labor. Thanks to the quick action and coordination between the teams, it was possible to successfully deliver the baby.
After the mother and newborn were stabilized, both were safely transported to the Faro Hospital Center, where they will receive medical follow-up.
This event was shared by the Volunteer Firefighters of São Bartolomeu de Messines, along with two photographs that, according to the corporation, were released with the permission of the woman in labor. The publication also included several messages of congratulations to the parents and the newborn, as well as thanks to the teams involved for the excellent work carried out.
