A commercial plane from the company Azerbaijan Airlines, with 67 people on board, crashed this Wednesday (25) in the western region of , local authorities reported, who reported 28 survivors in the accident. The aircraft, a 190, was flying between Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, and Grozny, the capital of the Russian republic of Chechnya, according to Azerbaijan Airlines. The plane crashed near the city of Aktau, on the shores of the Caspian Sea in western Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Ministry of Emergency Situations said on Telegram.

According to the ministry, 25 people survived – 22 were hospitalized. The local department of the Ministry of Health reported a balance of 28 survivors. Azerbaijan Airlines indicated that the aircraft, which was carrying 62 passengers and five crew members, “made an emergency landing” three kilometers from Aktau. Among those on board were 37 Azerbaijani citizens, six Kazakhs, three Kyrgyz and 16 Russians, according to the Kazakh Ministry of Transport. The causes of the accident have not been determined.
