The (PP-PR) presented a bill to ensure that cooperatives have access to resources from the (National Fund for Scientific and Technological Development) to finance technology and innovation projects.

The fund is one of the main instruments to support the country’s scientific and technological development. In 2024, the FNDCT released around R$12.7 billion in resources, compared to R$10 billion in 2023.

Medeiros prepared the text in partnership with Sistema OCB (Organization of Brazilian Cooperatives). The project allows cooperatives to also benefit from FNDCT resources, as well as companies and scientific and technology institutions.

The government understands that the cooperative model is not included in the law that deals with the fund. Medeiros’ text allows entities to have access to the fund’s resources.

“Cooperativism is experiencing a positive moment in Brazil, but some regulatory barriers hinder this growth”, says the deputy. “Giving cooperatives access to policies to promote science and technology means an important step in delivering solutions to crucial problems, such as connectivity, sustainability and saving resources.”
