In a statement from the PSP, it is explained that the operation was prevention (“routine”) and aimed to reduce crimes and “promote a safer environment for residents, businesses and tourists” in the Santa Maria Maior neighborhood. There is also talk of mapping criminal incidents, including drug trafficking.
However, no drugs of any kind were seized at the scene. Yes, four items were seized, with an estimated value of 1000 euros, a cell phone, gold items worth 220 euros, 1570 euros in cash and 46 counterfeit sports items, with an approximate value of 2000 euros.
There were also notifications made to two foreigners “due to illegal situation”22 notices for infraction with seizures of food, clothing and footwear, as well as several seizures on suspicion of receipt crimes (possession of stolen property).
