Quaquá said he intends to introduce Márcio Canella, whom he called his “friend”, to President Lula
The vice-president of the PT (Workers’ Party), expressed support for the elected mayor of Belford Roxo (RJ), (União Brasil), an ally of the former president (PL). Quaquá promised that the Bolsonarista would approach the president (PT) to discuss investments in Baixada Fluminense.
“I’m with Canella, who has been a friend of mine for a long time, and I’m going to take him to President Lula, so that Lula can make bigger investments in the downtown area through Canella. The PT has to be with this brother here, and he with us,” stated Quaquá in videos published on social media on Sunday (Dec 22, 2024).
Quaquá, also elected mayor of Maricá (RJ), and Canella appeared together in a video posted on social media. The elected mayor of Belford Roxo, in turn, thanked the support and recognized the PT vice-president as a “national political leader”.
DISPUTE IN BELFORD ROXO
The relationship between politicians goes against the local scenario, considering the alliance between Lula and Waguinho, current mayor of Belford Roxo. Waguinho’s candidate in the municipal elections was his nephew Matheus, also affiliated with the Republicans, defeated by Canella. The position culminated in a definitive break between them.
Márcio Canella was elected in the 1st round, with 62.9% of valid votes. (Republicans) came in 2nd place, with 35.2%.
Waguinho’s wife, the federal deputy (União Brasil), was Lula’s Minister of Tourism at the beginning of the PT member’s term. Photographs of Daniela on social media with members of the Baixada Fluminense militia and her disaffiliation from União Brasil ended up leading to the loss of her position – this was because the party had nominated Daniela as part of its “quota” in the Esplanada Lulista.
