One person died this morning due to a fire that broke out in a shopping center in North Ossetia, in the Russian Caucasus, local authorities said.
“A fire broke out at the Alania Mall,” in Vladikavkaz, the main city of this Russian Caucasus republic, Sergei Menyalo, the head of local authorities, said via Telegram.
“A woman lost her life,” he continued, clarifying that another person was injured and taken to a hospital where he is being treated.
According to Russian Telegram users, the fire broke out before the mall opened.
According to the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the fire caused damage to one of the highest floors and the roof of the mall.
A Russian news agency source in the security forces said that the fire was preceded by an explosion.
The causes of the explosion and fire are not yet clear.
