Agency launched the “Embarque Numa Boa” campaign to clarify inspection criteria before flights

Anac (National Civil Aviation Agency) launched the campaign last Wednesday (18.Dec.2024) Embark in a Boato clarify that personal searches at airports occur randomly. The action, promoted through 3, reinforces that inspections are carried out without discrimination based on race, gender, age or any other personal characteristic.

According to the agency, the initiative aims to promote safety and respect during inspections, ensuring dignified treatment for all passengers. The campaign’s informative material details safety procedures, including guidelines for searching children, pets and people with special needs, following guidelines from Oaci (International Civil Aviation Organization).

Recently, allegations of discrimination in safety inspections have gained attention on social media. In May 2023, Renato Freitas (PT), state deputy from Roraima, said he had been discriminated against when boarding in Foz do Iguaçu, Paraná. In a video, he stated that the federal police officers who carried out the search were a “band of ignorant racists”.

Anac stated that the selection for additional inspections is made by automatic systems to avoid human bias. The agency advises passengers who feel disrespected to seek the ombudsman offices of the competent ministries or Anac itself, through the platform Fala.Br.
