London police detained on suspicion of attempted murder of a man who rammed his car into pedestrians in London’s West End. The incident took place on Wednesday night. TASR informs based on the report of the DPA agency.
Four people were hospitalized, one of them is in critical condition, the police said. No victims were immediately reported. Members of the London Metropolitan Police were called to the scene on Wednesday at 0.45 am. local time (1:45 a.m. CET) because they received a report of a collision with a car traveling in the opposite direction on Shaftesbury Avenue in Covent Garden.
According to the police, the suspect allegedly got into a fight in a nightclub, then got into a car and took it to the sidewalk. writes DPA with reference to the police. The police detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder and added that this is an isolated incident and not a terrorist attack.
“The members of the Metropolitan Police quickly responded to the report and, in cooperation with the London City Police, arrested the man within a few minutes,” said Deputy Assistant Commissioner Stuart Cundy of the Metropolitan Police.
