Despite the fact that more than 34 years have passed since the death of the star of the film How to Pull a Whale Chair, actor Tomáš Holé († 21), who played the character Vašek, it still makes the heart flutter. It was fateful for Tomáš to try out a brand new Škoda 120 after sitting in a pub with his friends. That’s when his mother Maria’s whole world collapsed. As the portal writes, she struggled to death and only a few people knew about her departure.
After many years, Tomáš’s friends talked about the tragic accident in the book My name is Tomáš, you can read more about it. “Tomáš’s mother, Maruška, first chases away the policemen from the door of her apartment in Nusle in Prague that night, who come to inform her that Tomas has died. With that, let them keep this kind of fun, what kind of another joke is this from Tomas. But it’s not a joke is,” written by the author of the book Oto Kars.
However, when she believed the news about the loss of her beloved son, it was a huge blow for her. When Tomáš was still a child, Maria divorced her husband, and that’s why she had a very strong bond with her son. At the beginning of 2014, 24 years after Tomáš’s death, a handful of people said goodbye to her in the crematorium in Skanečice. She died at the age of 68.
Her last farewell was organized by Tomáš’s friends, who still visited her even after the terrible tragedy. “She was a brave and exceedingly kind lady,” actor Miloslav Mejzlík remembered with respect. Even people who knew her well had no idea of her death. “I had no idea that Mrs. Holá had died. I knew she was sick,” director Marie Poledňáková said at the time.
