Three people from the same family died and another three were admitted to hospital after eating cake at an afternoon cafe, in the city of Torres, in Rio Grande do Sul. The victims sought medical help between the night of Monday (23) and Tuesday ( 24).

In total, six people were hospitalized, four women, one man and one child, all from the same family. The third fatal victim was 65 years old and died on Tuesday night (24).
The family members who died were identified as Maida Berenice Flores da Silva, 58 years old, and Tatiana Denize Silva dos Santos, 43 years old. The third’s name was not disclosed.
Police investigate case of family who ate cake
According to , the Civil Police investigation indicates that several products were found out of date in the home of the person who prepared the cake, who is also hospitalized.
As a result, the food consumed by the family was seized for forensic examination and the victims’ clinical and toxicological samples were sent for analysis by the hospital to the Toxicological Information Center, in Porto Alegre.
