At least 3 people were injured today by Russia’s “massive attack” with missiles that continues in Kharkiv, according to the mayor of this large eastern city.

“Kharkov is the target of a massive missile attack,” Igor Terekhov said in a Telegram post. “Ballistic missiles are still heading for the city. Stay in safe places,” he notes.

“The Russian army carried out at least 7 strikes,” the governor of the Kharkiv region, Oleg Sinegubov, also clarified in his Telegram post, adding that “damages to civilian infrastructure where there are no homes” have been caused.

The Ukrainian air force also noted in a statement that Russian Kalibr cruise missiles were fired from the Black Sea, without it being clear so far where they were headed.

The national electricity company Ukrenergo also announced restrictions on electricity supply due to the Russian massive missile attack.

Ukraine’s energy minister said the Russian military is “massively attacking” Ukraine’s energy sector today, where consumption restrictions have been imposed.

“The enemy is attacking the energy sector en masse again. The operator of the supply network takes the necessary measures to limit the consumption in order to minimize the negative consequences for the energy system,” German Galushchenko also noted in his Telegram post.

This attack takes place on the day of Christmas, which is celebrated for the second consecutive year on December 25 in Ukraine, as in the West, and no longer on January 7 according to the old calendar followed by the Russian Orthodox Church.

The Russian Defense Ministry also announced today that 59 Ukrainian drones were intercepted over Russian territory overnight, 26 of them in the Belgorod region and 23 in the Voronezh region.

The commander of the latter, Alexander Gusev, said in a post on Telegram that the debris from the downed drones caused damage to a power line and slight material damage to houses.
