The Church of Carvoeiro, also known as the Ermida de Nossa Senhora da Encarnação, in Lagoa, will be the stage, on January 12th, at 5pm, for the 1st New Year’s Recital. The event, promoted by Ideias do Levante – Associação Cultural da Lagoa, has the support of Lagoa City Hall and Nossa Senhora da Luz Parish. This recital’s main objective is to promote the region’s artistic and religious heritage, valuing historical spaces and local artists.
The first edition of the event features Tiago Santos on clarinet and Cristiana Silva on piano, two musicians recognized for their talent and trajectory. The musical program highlights works by renowned composers, such as Joe Hisaishi (“One Summer’s Day”), Maurice Ravel (“Pavane pour une infante défunte”) and WA Mozart (Quintet for Clarinet in A Major, K. 581). The diversity of styles promises to offer the public a unique experience, exploring the interaction between the two instruments.
The venue for the recital, the Church of Carvoeiro, has a rich history dating back to the 17th century. Originally built as a hermitage, it has been expanded and restored over the years to accommodate the growing number of worshipers and visitors. It recently underwent significant restoration, preserving its cultural and religious importance.
