A renowned Czech conductor died suddenly after a concert: The last notes belonged to a well-known Christmas song!

His departure saddened all colleagues and loved ones just before Christmas. On Friday, December 20, violinist, conductor and founder of the group Virtuosi di Praga Oldřich Vlček died at the age of 74. As the website informs, he died suddenly after a concert in his native Strakonice.

He conducted the Czech Christmas Mass there, which is the most popular holiday song in the Czech Republic. It was composed by Jakub Jan Ryba in 1796. Oldřich Vlček was born on September 21, 1950 in Strakonice into a musical family. His father was a tenor and played the harmonica.

The members of the ensemble where he worked are shocked by the unexpected death of a colleague. According to them, there was no indication that the artist’s death was approaching.
