The president of Argentina, Javier Mileywas the target of offensive messages and insults in a hacker attack against one of the country’s main government portals, last Wednesday (25), on Christmas Day.
For about an hour, according to newspaper information The Nationo site My Argentina – which brings together citizen support services – had its main page completely disconfigured and some channels taken down by hackers.
During this period, users were unable to access the website and some government applications, such as Sube, used to pay bus fares.
The virtual criminals also published videos of Argentine rapper Homer el Mero Mero and a series of messages with attacks and insults towards Milei, as well as anti-Semitic comments.
In the early hours of this Thursday (26), the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology reported that, in fact, government pages were the target of a hacker attack, which is already being investigated by the authorities. In the statement, the ministry also holds previous governments responsible “for the state in which they left electronic management systems”.
The Milei government also blamed the opposition for rejecting the Decree of Necessity and Urgency (DNU) that determined financial transfers for the State Intelligence Secretariat (Side) to advance programs to combat hackers.
