According to Lieutenant C. Queiroz, from the Sena Fire Department, diving would resume today, but this measure became unfeasible due to the flood of the Purus River. “Today, the river has risen a lot and is going down a lot. Due to the risks, diving has been suspended and superficial searches are being carried out. Yesterday, firefighters took dives at various points on the Purus River,” he confirmed.

It was determined that Gerson Meireles, the victim, had drunk alcohol and went from one ferry to another. At that moment, he fell into the water and did not have the strength to return.

Residents who were at the scene confirmed that they still managed to move the ferry away, however, they only found the victim’s sandal.
