According to the president of the Chamber of Deputies, the meeting will discuss the election of the Board of Directors of the House, which will be defined in February, with the return of legislative work in 2025
The president of the Chamber of Deputies, (PP-AL), called a meeting with leaders for this Thursday afternoon (26), three days after the minister of the (STF) ordered the blocking of R$ 4.2 billion in which It has the signature of 17 bench leaders.
Still on Monday (23), when Dino’s decision was made public, some leaders were already discussing strategies and wanted to call an emergency meeting that same day. According to Lira, the meeting will deal with the election of the Board of Directors of the House, which will be defined in February, with the return of legislative work in 2025. Parliamentarians say that the minister’s action has once again strained the relationship between the Judiciary and the Legislature.
Senator Ângelo Coronel (PSD-BA), rapporteur of the 2025 Budget, said that he will only put this matter up for a vote when the rules of the amendments are pacified and when there is no “crossfire” between the Powers. In the decision, Dino states that there was “sponsorship” of the amendments by party leaders, which in practice prevents the identification of the parliamentarians who actually made the distribution requests. The minister also ordered the opening of an investigation by the Federal Police (PF) to investigate the capture of the commission amendments.
According to Dino, in a first analysis, the facts “go far beyond the Constitution, as this is not a normal exercise of institutional autonomy or a healthy celebration of political pacts”. The decision mentions Operation Overclean, which investigates suspected deviations from amendments in several states. In one of the actions, the Federal Police caught cash being transported on a jet that flew from Salvador to Brasília. And an operation launched this Monday, 23rd, arrested politicians from the interior of Bahia, as well as a federal police officer.
