The number of deaths due to the collapse of the bridge over the Tocantins River rises to 6

As Search teams recovered two more bodies of missing victims this Wednesday afternoon (25). following the collapse of the Juscelino Kubitschek de Oliveira bridge, which occurred last Sunday (22).

In today’s work, the first body recovered by the Fire Department was that of Anísio Padilha Soares, aged 43, found at 3:05 pm.

The second victim was Silvana dos Santos Rocha Soares, 53 years old, whose body was found at 4:17 pm.

The six deaths already confirmed were:

  • Anisio Padilha Soares, 43 years old
  • Silvana dos Santos Rocha Soares, 53 years old
  • Lorena Rodrigues Ribeiro, 25 years old
  • Lorrane Cidronio de Jesus, 11 years old
  • Kecio Francisco Santos Lopes, 42 years old
  • Andreia Maria de Souza, 45 years old

The first fatal victim was found on Sunday (22), the day of the accident. On Tuesday morning (24) Lorrane’s body was located at 6am, shortly after Kecio’s, at 9am.

in the late afternoon of December 24th. She was driving the trailer with sulfuric acid that is submerged in the river.

8 – Osmarina da Silva Carvalho, 48 years old
9 – Gesimar Ferreira, 38 years old
10 – Ailson Gomes Carneiro, 57 years old
11 – Elisangela Santos das Chagas, 50 years old

The only one rescued alive, so far, was Jairo Silva Rodrigues, 36 years old. He was found by members of the public with a broken leg and taken to Hospital Estreito, in Maranhão.

The Tocantins River is the second largest river found entirely in Brazilian territory, according to the Amazon Environmental Research Institute.
