Couple arrested for killing neighbor to appropriate land

This Friday morning (27/12), the Civil Police of the Federal District (PCDF) arrested Tiago Alves Cajá, 24 years old, and Thalissa dos Santos Araújo, 21, Samara Regina da Costa, 21, for taking possession of a lot at QNM 09 in Ceilândia, which belonged to the victim. Operation Bad Couple, which served two temporary arrest warrants and a search and seizure warrant, was carried out by the 15th Police Station.

At the time of the crime, which occurred between December 15th and 16th, the couple lured the victim to their house, rented at the back of the lot, under the pretext of having a snack. There, they drugged the victim with medicine and hanged him, trying to simulate a possible suicide. According to investigations, the duo wanted to take possession of the land, since Samara — having lost her mother and grandmother, having no children and no contact with her father — was the sole owner of the property.

Four days after the crime, the couple got into a fight and the man was arrested for domestic violence and the truth came out. In the act, Thalissa revealed that she was attacked by her partner after threatening to tell the police that he had killed Samara with a rear naked choke and simulated her suicide.

During the investigation, five anonymous complaints were received stating that, after the crime, the couple told some people about the murder. The woman, arrested at her grandmother’s house, stated, during interrogation, that the victim was killed by her partner, and she had only helped to simulate the suicide. Tiago Alves Cajá was detained at the Provisional Detention Center (CDP) and had his temporary arrest warrant served there.

The detention granted has a term of 30 days, and can be extended for an equal period or converted into preventive detention. Those investigated were indicted for double qualifications for gross motives and suffocation, in addition to procedural fraud. Combined, the sentences can reach 34 years in prison.
