The senator (-DF) praises the mayor of , (), for choosing Angela Gandra Martins as the new municipal secretary of International Relations.
The lawyer was national secretary of the Family during Damares’ tenure as Minister of Human Rights in the Jair Bolsonaro (PL) government and was focused on defending the anti-abortion agenda.
“I thought the appointment was right, the mayor made the right choice. Angela is a woman extremely well connected with various diplomatic bodies around the world. She is a prepared woman, very ethical, very professional”, says the senator.
“She was a great manager. Angela speaks a few languages, she is very sensible”, he adds.
Regarding the anti-abortion cause, Damares states that the position that Angela will hold “requires another type of action” and that the issue is not on the agenda.
“She is one of the greatest activists in the world in the fight in defense of women, children and against rape. It has been a personal fight of hers for decades. But Angela is very ethical and knows how to separate personal activities from professional activities”, he concludes. .
Angela’s predecessors in the ministry were former ministers Aldo Rebelo and Marta Suplicy, who left municipal management to become deputy to Guilherme Boulos (PSOL).
