The leader of the PP, Alberto Núñez Feijóo, has appeared to take political stock of 2024 and has harshly criticized the Government of Pedro Sánchez, which he considers “an embarrassment.” “For the purposes of the president, a collection of unprecedented scandals in his political and personal environment. And for the purposes of the Spaniards, a waste of time and money,” denounced the popular leader. Regarding his party’s approach to Junts, a formation with which he has agreed on some initiatives that have meant defeating parliamentary elections for the Government, Feijóo said: “I don’t mind agreeing to fulfill the electoral program without blackmail and without threats.”
Feijóo considers that this year “politics has been moving away from the people” and that the country “moves forward” thanks to the citizens. He also remembered those affected by the damage and highlighted the performance of the Kings. “The Kings, with their closeness, represent us all more than ever, but not an executive who, with his lack of empathy and his distance from reality, distances himself from what the real Spain is,” he assured.
The popular leader has also offered his vision of what awaits the Executive next year: “2025 of this Government will take place between the courts, Waterloo and perhaps something from Franco.” Next, the popular leader has reiterated that the PP is “the first party in Spain” and has defended its role in the opposition: “We gather majorities and pass laws, without resorting to blackmail, without auctioning off the state, without agonizing votes and without changing principles.”
