An elderly man was seriously injured after a gas cylinder exploded, the accident was recorded this Friday morning (27), in the Campina do Siqueira neighborhood, in Curitiba. Two other people who were passing through the street at the time of the explosion were hit by the debris and were injured.
According to information from the Fire Department, the initial suspicion is that the gas was leaking overnight. “Initially it was a gas leak, we can’t say how long it was leaking there,” said Lieutenant Budernik from the Fire Department, in an interview with RICtv.

Due to the explosion of the gas cylinder, part of the elderly man’s house was destroyed, images taken by a drone reveal the property’s backyard full of debris. “The explosion was really significant, it knocked down the walls, damaged the entire structure of the stove, we can’t say now what actually happened”, explains the lieutenant.
The elderly man, whose identity was not revealed, was taken to Hospital Evangélico with burns on 100% of his body, his health condition is considered serious. The other victims did not need to be taken to the hospital and were treated at the scene. The Fire Department is investigating the causes of the fire, the explosion site has been isolated and must undergo an inspection by Cosedi.
