President of the Chamber of Deputies said that ‘everything was done’ in compliance with the STF’s demands on the transparency of amendments after blocking R$4.2 billion in transfers
The president of the Chamber of Deputies, (PP-AL), declared on Thursday night (26) that all necessary measures were taken to meet the demands of the (STF) in relation to transparency. This statement comes after the Court’s decision to block R$4.2 billion in transfers. Lira also mentioned that new clarifications will be presented to the minister this Friday (27).
According to Lira’s allies, the Chamber of Deputies must respond to the questions asked by Dino, in the new blocking of parliamentary amendments made this week, until Monday. The intention is to publish the minutes of the commission amendments that were requested from the government by a group of 17 Chamber leaders.
The STF’s decision was not limited to the financial blockade, but also included the suspension of payments and the opening of an investigation by the Federal Police. Dino argued that the nominations made did not comply with the criteria established in a previous agreement between the Court, Congress and the Executive. Furthermore, the release of amounts for 2025 is subject to compliance with these guidelines.
Recently, the Chamber sent a letter to the government that changed the allocation of part of the amendments scheduled to be released by the end of 2024. The document bears the signature of 17 party leaders and requests the execution of R$4.2 billion that has already were foreseen in the 2024 Budget, but had been blocked since a decision by the Federal Supreme Court (STF) in August. Of the total amount, R$180 million is directed to “new indications”. Of these resources, 40% were allocated to the State of Alagoas, which is Lira’s electoral base.
