RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) – The 163 Chinese workers found at a construction site at the BYD factory in Bahia were victims of international human trafficking, the Public Ministry of Labor (MPT) said on Thursday (26).

It said BYD and BYD have agreed to house workers in hotels until negotiations on a deal to end the workers’ contracts are reached, although both companies disagree with authorities’ assessment.

A did not immediately respond to a request for comment and Reuters was unable to reach Jinjiang outside business hours.
