The mother of Diego de Souza, suspected of killing his own daughter and shooting his ex-wife, said that she misses her granddaughter every day. “It’s a pain that will never go away, imagine what my son must be like, my son is not a criminal, he has a mother, he has a family”, she said emotionally. Diego confessed to having murdered his own daughter, Ayla Neres, aged 3, in Londrina, and shooting her. The crime was recorded this Monday (23).
Still in an interview with RICtv, Diego’s mother hopes that her son will be imprisoned: “He must be imprisoned to pay for what he did,” she said. At Diego de Souza’s custody hearing, the court converted the arrest in flagrante delicto to preventive detention, to guarantee public order.
Father kills daughter and shoots ex-wife in Londrina
This Monday (23), Diego de Souza went to the house where his ex-wife lived – the couple had been separated for around 3 years – and shot his daughter in front of his wife, the child’s mother. The woman was also shot in the head, grazed, and pretended to be dead to survive. She was scheduled to get married on the same day and then was going to move with her family to another state.
Soon after, the suspect left with his shot daughter in the car, abandoned the child in the vehicle and fled. When security teams found the car, the girl was already dead. The father was located hours later, and confessed to the crimes.

Court denies insanity test request to father who killed daughter and shot ex
Judge Eveline Zanoni de Andrade, of the Court of Justice of Paraná (TJPR), denied the request for examination made by lawyer Alexandre de Aquino, responsible for Diego de Souza’s defense.
“The request for the establishment of a mental incident does not require approval, as there is no
moment by the Court, doubt about the mental integrity of the defendant, which is why I reject it”, said the judge in a decision. The suspect’s defense argued that he will file an appeal and that he will request psychiatric care on court duty.
