Netflix attracts 65 million viewers with Christmas round

The matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and Houston Texans averaged 24.3 million viewers, while the game between the Kansas City Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers recorded 24.1 million. These numbers surpassed the previous record of 23 million, from the game between Miami Dolphins and Chiefs last season.

Singer Beyoncé performed during halftime between the Texans and Ravens. The show included songs from Beyoncé’s most recent album, Cowboy Carter. It peaked at 27 million viewers.

This was the 3rd time that Beyoncé performed at halftime at an NFL event, after the 2013 and 2016 Super Bowls. The performance was held in Houston, Texas, the singer’s hometown.

NBA ALSO GROWS

The NBA (National Basketball Association) also held games at Christmas. The round featured 5 matches, broadcast by the broadcaster ABC and through the subscription channel ESPN. The average number of spectators per game was 5.25 million.

The North American basketball league faces a drop in audience of almost 28% in the USA. However, the Christmas round attracted 84% more spectators compared to the 2023 holiday. The number was driven by the match between the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors, with an average of 7.76 million and a peak of 8.32 million.
