Legendary French astrologer, physician, pharmacist and alchemist Nostradamus
Nostradamus fans anticipate that next year will be troubled, with the waters in the Amazon basin being poisoned, the involvement of Turkey and France in the conflict in Ukraine and even dramas in the Premier League.
When a new year approaches, a revisit to the predictions of Michel de Nostredame, the famous French astrologer of the 16th century known as Nostradamus.
Almost 500 years after his death, Nostradamus remains the most renowned astrologer and seer in history. His 1555 book, “The Prophecies“, composed of quatrains, has fueled fascination and several reinterpretations for centuries.
According to the interpretations of admirers of the astrologer, who was notoriously cryptic in his writings, Nostradamus predicted events such as the September 11ththe Second World War, the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki or the death of Queen Elizabeth II.
For 2025, the usual themes of war, catastrophe and social upheaval are once again the subject of analysis by its followers.
Türkiye and France enter the war in Ukraine
A recurring theme in Nostradamus’ predictions involves war, and 2025 is no exception. Some interpret Quatrain 25 of the 7th Century as pointing to changes in current Ukraine-Russia conflict.
The quatrain reads as follows: “During the long war, the entire army was exhausted / So that they would not find money for the soldiers; / Instead of gold or silver, they will coin leather, / Gallic brass and the crescent of the moon.”
Analysts speculate that this could indicate economic tension and potential new actors in the conflict, such as Türkiye or Francesymbolized by the crescent moon on the Turkish flag and the “Gallic bronze”. Others even suggest the possibility of World War III, although such interpretations remain speculative.
“Cruel wars” and “ancient plagues”
Another prophecy suggests “ancient pests” and “cruel wars” in Europe, with England playing a prominent role. This prediction is linked to texts from Nostradamus: The Lost Manuscript and not to the original book.
Although there are no specific details, the prediction evokes general fears of recurring pandemics and ongoing geopolitical conflicts.
Poisoned water in the Amazon basin
Natural disasters also feature prominently in Nostradamus’s alleged predictions for 2025: “Garden of the world near the new city, / In the way of the hollow mountains: / Will be seized and plunged into the bathtub, / Forced to drink waters poisoned by sulfur.”
This quatrain, which speaks of poisoned waters and hollow mountains, is being related to volcanic eruptions in the Andes and its potential impact on the Amazon basin.
Problems in the Premier League
In a surprising twist, Nostradamus’s cryptic reference to a “Rooster,” an “Eagle,” and a “lion” has been associated with Premier League football teams—whose symbol is a lion—specifically Tottenham Hotspur e Crystal Palace.
“In Campania there will be very prolonged rains, / In Apulia a very severe drought. / The Rooster will see the Eagle with poorly finished wing/ By the lion he will be put in extreme.”
A humorously suggests that this prediction points to financial problems for Crystal Palace.
The “Water Empire” and the New World Order
Another prophecy has been associated with the appearance of a “Aquatic Empire”, floods and obscure cults. Although the book contains no explicit mention of this empire, the idea has been associated with fears of environmental disasters and conspiracy theories about a new world order.
As always, Nostradamus’s quatrains offer more questions than answers. Its ambiguity allows infinite interpretationsoften applied retroactively to concrete events.
Whether 2025 brings wars, plagues, or football dramas, one thing is certain: Nostradamus will continue to captivate the imagination of many astrology enthusiasts.
