The will launch councilor Celso Giannazi as a candidate for president of the São Paulo City Council, in the election scheduled for next Wednesday (1st).
The decision is a way of marking a position in the dispute, since PSOL will only have 6 of the 55 councilors in the next legislature.
The vast majority of others – including the PT, which is negotiating a place on the Board of Directors.
According to Giannazi, his candidacy will aim to provoke reflection on the role of the Legislature in the city.
“The City Council approved several illegal and unconstitutional projects, showing a total subordination of the Legislative Power to the Executive Power. It functioned like a registry office, without carrying out a more serious, more competent discussion”, states the parliamentarian.
