Santos mourned the death of actor Ney Latorraca this Thursday and issued a note of condolence. He passed away after his prostate cancer worsened. The actor was admitted to the Clínica São Vicente da Gávea, in Rio de Janeiro.
Ney Latorraca was a fanatical fan of the Vila Belmiro team and always expressed his passion for the club. “Santos Futebol Clube deeply regrets the death of actor Ney Latorraca. He spent more than five decades of his career dedicated brilliantly to theater, television and cinema”, the club said in a post on social media.
Santos highlighted the identification of Ney Latorraca by the Baixada team. “Ney Latorraca was born in Santos and has always supported Peixão. For a long time, he lived in front of Alçapão and watched everything through the window. Ney Latorraca even carried the club in his characters, as when he played the Santos player André, in soap opera Um Sonho a Mais”, recalled the club.
“We leave here this tribute to the famous actor and our strength to his friends, family and admirers”, concluded the note. Latorraca was one of the most renowned actors in Brazilian dramaturgy and has work on television and theater on his resume.
The actor died as a result of pulmonary sepsis, a consequence of prostate cancer. Born in the city of Santos, he was 80 years old and had been hospitalized since the 20th due to his worsening health condition.
