“Ukrainian drones at that time… carried out terrorist attacks on civilian infrastructure,” said the head of the agency, Dmitry Yadrov, on the Telegram social network. According to him, the plane tried to land twice and then diverted in the direction of Kazakhstan in dense fog. The captain of the crashed plane allegedly they also offered other airports, but he himself chose the city of Aktau.
According to Yadrov, Russia signaled its determination to help Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan immediately after the accident. “The Russian side immediately let its Kazakh and Azerbaijani partners know that it is fully ready to cooperate in the investigation of this tragedy,” he announced.
The Embraer 190 aircraft of the AZAL company was heading from the Azerbaijani capital Baku to the Chechen capital Grozny. There were 67 people on board, including five crew members – 42 citizens of Azerbaijan, 16 of Russia, six of Kazakhstan and three of Kyrgyzstan. 38 people died, 29 were hospitalized, including three children, 11 injured are in the intensive care unit.
