Ursa Major sank between Spain and Algeria
Dmitry Medvedev, vice-president of the Russian Security Council, this Friday accused a Norwegian-flagged ship of refusing to help the sailors of a Russian cargo ship that was sinking in the Mediterranean Sea, which he considered to be an unforgivable act.
“A Norwegian-flagged ship, the Oslo Carrier 3, refused to take on board Russian sailors from the Ursa Major that was sinking in the Mediterranean. What else is there to explain? This cannot be forgiven!” wrote Medvedev Telegram.
Also Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov considered that “if, in fact, no assistance was provided to those in danger at sea, this was contrary to all maritime laws and was an outrageous case that deserves full condemnation”.
Medvedev considered the ship’s alleged behavior as part of a broader pattern of anti-Russian actions by Europe, which Moscow will have to punish “by all available means.”
which is part of the Russian Defense Ministry’s military construction operations, ran into trouble on Monday and sank between Spain and Algeria, with 14 of the 16 crew members transported to a lifeboat.
