The Civil Police of Pernambuco are investigating the death of Myrella Albuquerque da Silva, a 22-year-old trans woman, found dead in a reception center in Cabo de Santo Agostinho, in the Metropolitan Region of Recife, on the afternoon of last Wednesday (25 ).
The center offers support to people in situation of social vulnerability and chemical dependency. According to police, the woman was stabbed to death inside the location.
According to information from the Secretariat of Social Assistance, Combating Hunger and Drug Policies, the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) was called, but the victim succumbed to his injuries and died at the scene.
In a statement, the Civil Police reported that the South Metropolitan Region Homicide Task Force was called to investigate the circumstances of the death.
The main suspect, who was also housed at the institution, fled the scene before the police arrived. He allegedly threatened the center’s employees before escaping. Police are still searching for the suspect, who has not yet been located.
