Brazilian team and the country’s Intergovernmental Aviation Committee Committee defined joint tasks at a meeting in Aktau
Specialists from Cenipa (Brazilian Center for Aviation Accident Investigation and Prevention) arrived in Aktau, Kazakhstan, this Saturday (Dec 28, 2024). They participate in the investigation of the plane crash involving an Embraer 190 plane from Azerbaijan Airlines. The plane crashed 3 km from Aktau airport during the flight to Grozny (Russia), in Wednesday (25.dez.2024).
The Brazilian team met with members of the Intergovernmental Aviation Committee in a meeting at the headquarters of the investigation commission. At the meeting, authorities defined joint activities for the investigation, according to information released by the Ministry of Transport of Kazakhstan on Telegram.
“On December 28, representatives from the Brazilian Aviation Accident Investigation and Prevention Center (Cenipa) and the Intergovernmental Aviation Committee arrived in the city of Aktau. A meeting was held at the headquarters of the investigation commission, where joint tasks at the site of the aircraft accident were defined,” stated the Ministry of Transport in the country.
A (Brazilian Air Force) reported that Brazilian participation follows Annex 13 of the Convention on International Civil Aviation, a treaty signed by Brazil and Kazakhstan.
The accident mobilized rescue teams, who arrived at the scene and controlled the fire. The affected area covered 4,200 square meters. There were 67 passengers on board. At least 38 people died. The causes of the accident are still unknown, and investigations are ongoing.
